Re: Export as AVI

The conversion route, though never my first choice, is often the only one to get a job done.

I normally rely on conversion, when handed some odd footage, that will not Import into my Premiere Pro - and seldom need to do it, for delivery.

At the risk of going off-topic a bit, I have a few questions about your delivery.

You mention DVD. Do you plan on delivering the Project on a DVD-Data (just the actual media files), or a DVD-Video, the type of discs that DVD players (software, or hardware) can play? A DVD-Video will have to have a specific folder/file structure. It will have a VIDEO_TS folder, in which will be IFO (information), BUP (backup) and VOB files. Those VOB files are just containers, that will have any DVD-Video Menus, and navigation, and then the MPEG-2 DVD media files (depending on Duration, those can span over several VOB files). To create a DVD-Video, one will need a DVD authoring program.

If you only need the media files, on a DVD-Data, then it will be up to the client, to be able to play those. That method might be from a multi-drive on a computer, through a software media player, such as VLC, Windows Media Player, MediaPlayer Classic HC, or others, via cables from that computer to the TV.

As I do not have Ps CC, I cannot directly help with what AME (the version included) can, and cannot do, but I wanted to save you a bunch of work, that might not be what the clients/recipients need.

If the needs to transcend what is capable from in Ps CC, it might be worth posting to the Adobe Video Lounge. There are a lot of video producers and editors, who hang out there, and will perhaps have some more ideas for you. Unfortunately, almost all will have one of the larger suites, with PrPro, and the full version of AME, so they would need to understand what you are working with, and what the limitations are. Also, let us know exactly what you are doing, regarding editing in Ps CC, as there might be a better workflow to get what you need.

Good luck, and if you are unclear on anything that I just threw at you, do not hesitate to ask for clarification.
