She's an odd one all right. When you paste into PS, do you use Ctrl n to open a new document the same size as the contents of the clipboard? When you do this, have a good look at the settings to see if they are sensible. (I'm wondering if a warning dialogue has been turned off?) Try resetting warning all warning dialogs in General Preferences.
Speaking of clipboards, do you any sort of clipboard manager app on your system?
Hmmm New document issues might affect bit depth and colour, but would not affect resolution. If it was set to Bitmap though.... Yes, I think that might be what is going on.
